PREFACE

MEN OF GOD are called flowers of mankind. They offer illuminating examples of pure, truthful and sublime life. They vindicate the glory of God and the supreme power of Truth. They inspire faith in the higher values of life. They have provided to mankind the foundations of civilization, morality and law. People revere them as incarnations, prophets, saints and gurus. People also revere as holy lands, the countries where Men of God were born or had meditated or delivered their message. India is one such God-blessed country. It is widely known in the world as a bastion of religion and spiritualism. Since thousands of years, Men of God have illuminated its horizons. Several ancient Indian saints and sages spent their lives fathoming the mysteries of human existence and in the quest of the Eternal. They expounded their views  and knowledge in the Vedas, Upnishads Brahma Sutras and other holy books. The Bhagwad Gita or Song Divine containing the message of

Lord Krishna is a universally honoured holy book in Hindu scripture. The teachings of the enlightened Buddha on Truth, expressed 2,500 years ago, have inspired millions in several countries. The lives and teachings of saints like Sankaracharya,Gyaneshwara, Chaitanya, Kabir, Ravidas, Nanak, Namdev and several other Men of God in all parts of India have lighted the path of devotees for several centuries. Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Shri Ramana Maharshi are widely known among the saints of recent times. To the same galaxy of India's Men of God also belongs a less widely known saint, Satguru Mangat Ram ji Maharaj, (1903-1954). Many people do not know about this saint because he was quiet, self-effacing and humble and avoided publicity. Still several thousand people met this saint and listened to his illuminating discourses. These people belonged to all walks of life including professors, teachers, lawyers, doctors, high government officials, businessmen as well as traders, farmers, and labourers etc. A few hundred of these people went to him and sat at his feet persistently. They discussed large numbers of spiritual, religious and social problems with the saint. Above all they saw the lived by the saint. They were convinced that Satguru Mangat Ram ji was a true Man of God and

one of the holiest children of the mother earth. 
This small tract seeks to give some glimpses of the life and teachings of Satguru Mangat Ram ji Maharaj. The brief introduction in the beginning contains a mention of some of the outstanding characteristics which one observed in this saint. Then comes Part I which gives a brief historical account of the events, travels, contacts and certain conversations between the Saint and some of the people whom he met. Part II which follows, contains the glimpses from the teachings of the Saint.
Basically, this tract is a modest effort by a devotee of his at introducing the saint to those who have interest the quest of Truth or spiritual life. It is therefore, hoped that inquisitive and thoughtful people will find it useful in their spiritual uplift.
